ILTS Physical Education (213) Practice Exam

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a comprehensive federal law that emphasizes the importance of a well-rounded education for all students, which includes physical education. ESSA recognizes the value of various educational programs, and it specifically allows for the inclusion of physical education as a critical component of a student's overall academic experience. The law provides guidelines to promote physical activities in schools, ensuring that students not only achieve academic success but also maintain their physical health and well-being.

By supporting physical education as part of the curriculum, ESSA highlights the role of physical activity in promoting a healthier lifestyle, reducing dropout rates, and improving students' concentration and academic performance. This law serves as a framework to advocate for adequate funding and resources for physical education, aligning with the goal of fostering holistic development in students.

In contrast, Title IX pertains mostly to gender equity in educational programs, IDEA addresses special education, and the SHAPE America toolkit is a resource for educators but does not serve as a law to enforce physical education's value in schools.
